I like the shapes and the clean lines. For me the black wall acts as a barrier to the eye. If you cropped some of it out I think it may work better.
It works for me, I like the composition. It gives a feel of two spaces, close and far, neither totally revealed.
i agree its not pure black, so it gives it more range
