Judges comment: It is always refreshing to see a square format presentation of the landscape because it immediately forces the viewers gaze towards the centre of the image and holds it there. The weather worn tree stump and the brittle grass stems that hold it are beautifully seen. The vertical lower stump is key to the composition as it connects us directly to the cloud formations above that eventually leads us on the journey around the rest of the image.
